Paul Lake is situated in a low, broad valley of Paul Creek which runs east-west through the northern part of the Interior Plateau physiographic region.

Englemann spruce is the main forest growth in the valley bottom and along the ridge tops with large areas of bunchgrass parkland, douglas fir, ponderosa pine and lodgepole pine on the valley slopes.

Paul Lake is less than 4 hours from Vancouver via the scenic Coquihalla Highway and just 20 minutes from Kamloops.

Location: From the city of Kamloops travel north on Hwy. #5 (Yellowhead Hwy.) for 5 km. (3.1 mi.). Turn east (right) and travel on Paul Lake Road for about 18 km. (11.2 mi.) to Paul Lake. Excellent paved road.

Fishing Report

One of the legendary Kamloops lakes. Paul has in the past been one of the truly fabulous fishing destinations.

Rainbows go to an average of 3-1/2 lbs. however trout in the 7 lb. range are not all that uncommon. Trolling is the most popular method of fishing, however fly fishermen are treated to an excellent spring Mayfly and Damselfly hatch.

Public boat launch is located in Paul Lake Provincial Park. There is no public launch in the residential area.

Conservation: Paul Lake Provincial Park has interior Douglas-fir forests, including stands of old growth. It protects habitat for the falcon, white-throated swift, bald eagle, coyote and mule deer.

Wildlife: A popular area for bird-watching, with osprey, swallows, and white-throated swifts. The park protects habitat for the falcon, white-throated swift, bald eagle, coyote and mule deer. Moose, bear and grouse are frequently seen in the area.

Dogs: please keep your pets leashed to protect wildlife and habitat and pickup after them.
